Kirk Brown operated the Gulf Station at the corner of Sharon and Fairview Roads since the 1950s. When South Park Mall was being built, Gulf Oil decided to change the station's format to a self-service convenience store. In 1971, Kirk Brown and his sons opened an Auto Center on McAlway Road at its present location. In 1993 Kirk's sons, Haines and Reid, who had ran the business since their father's death, decided to sell Kirk Brown & Sons Expert Auto Repair to one of their mechanics, Jerry White. Jerry continues to operate the business as the Browns did, providing honest and dependable service, taking care of their customers the old fashioned way!
